Stop!! Hibari-kun!

  • Hi Honobono!  ;)
I would really appreciate it if you would translate "Stop!! Hibari-kun!".
It's a funny series from the 80's and has 35 episodes each 24 minutes.
I still haven't seen any subbed version of it.
And if you need them, I've got raws of all episodes.

Hi, djcj, actually hibari-kun has been on our "maybe" list for quite some time now. Originally, the Italian translator was interested in it, and so it could be one of our multisub projects. The translator–the same person who did FH1 etc--even watched the raw. This and Sora Momo, that is. Hibari-kun is old, but the theme is still new, agressively new. It's so new that even Eguchi himself coldn't figure out how he could end this story, and so the original manga didn't "end" after all. It's unresolved--and unsolvable--sexual tension, unless of course, you'd accept some kind of "magic" like in, say... Maria from Kochi-kame? or "curse" as in Ranma 1/2 or "alien technology" as in Kashimashi?? or... somekind of supernatural power (aka deus ex machina) to change him. which would then ruin everything. All those titles above are fantastic, but you know they are cheap, compared with Hibari...
It's kind of encouraging to see Hibari-kun, who is always cool and happy even though constantly facing the impossible, or the fate, but at the same time, it's kind of painful to imagine what is going to happen to him 10 or 20 years later. Realistically.
He is different from many other "ordinary" people, which makes this story interesting, but in other words,  he has no place to be on this world...

EDIT: The above is mainly about the original manga version. Anime version might be different as always, subtle nuance simplified.

  • Yo there! :3
Here I am, it was me the interested guy on Stop! Hibari-kun anime ^^
As you can guess I'm the italian guy, and as you can see on my nick, I like Ranma.. just for that you can guess it's about ^^
Anyway, I like to have Hibari-kun subtitled 'cause i guess it's a nice series with some fun inside and comedy like situations 'caused by the gender and look-liking of the main character :3 ^^
I'd liked it since when I saw the opening clip (and the closing clip as well) many years ago in a videotape…
I think that's intriguing, I like very much how does Hibari looks, even tho i'm a straight guy :P XD

  • You can watch and download the first 5 episodes at Stage6:
    Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5.

But the raws I've git have much better quality.

  • Here are fansubs of the first three episodes: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C8BB863FA47E0293
